Adopt a Risso's Dolphin

Support our work by adopting a Manx Risso’s dolphin.

Manx Whale and Dolphin Watch (MWDW) has been at the forefront of marine mammal science on the Isle of Man since 2006. We work year round to ensure the safeguarding of whales, dolphins and porpoises (cetaceans) in Manx territorial waters through non-invasive research and public awareness efforts.

National Whale and Dolphin Watch is coordinated by the Sea Watch Foundation to raise awareness of the whales, dolphins, and porpoises visible around the British coastlines and to encourage the public to get involved in providing a snapshot of the status of our cetaceans.

Over the period we will monitor the weather and hope to host some public watches in various locations around the island. Keep an eye on the page to see where we'll be. We're starting with one of our Seawatch Saturdays at the Sound on 28th July (Seawatch Saturday at the Sound).

On Thursday 2nd August we will also be hosting an event at the Niarbyl cafe, look out for more details coming soon.

Join us down at the Sound for one of our summer public sea watch events. Members of the Manx Whale and Dolphin Watch team will be on hand with spotting tips and binoculars to help you see whales, dolphins, porpoises, and other sea life. Please do bring along your own binoculars if you have them.

In partnership with the Cafe at the Sound, why not make an afternoon of it and enjoy a meal or drink inside, then join us between 11am and 1pm to hopefully spot some of our local cetacean species!

These events are free to attend but donations are always welcome to support our work.

Events may be cancelled or re-scheduled do to weather restrictions, please check the event page for updates.
