Talks, stalls and school Visits
Our main talk, ‘Manx Marine Mega Monsters’ has received a very positive response from many groups and organisations over the years. It discusses the history of cetaceans in Manx waters, the species found here and the work we are doing to study and conserve them. We give talks to groups, clubs, organisations, schools and elsewhere. Please get in touch if you would like us to talk to your group, but note that we usually are only available to give talks during the winter.
Throughout the year we appear at public events with our popular stall. As we are dedicated to raising awareness amongst the public, this has been one of our key resources, enabling us to reach out to locals and tourists alike and educating them on the wonders they can see from our coastline. We have discovered that the majority of people we talk to, including those who live on the island, were previously unaware that you can see whales, dolphins and porpoises here.
Our experienced team will be on hand to teach you everything you might want to know about marine mammals. You will find information on the species seen here, a selection of handmade cards and beautiful ID guides on lanyards (both made by our wonderful volunteers). We also have children’s activities and a competition to win a cuddly toy dolphin.
Keep an eye on our events page for details of upcoming stalls, and please pop over for a chat on the day.
Our education officer enjoys visiting schools to run interactive lessons to a variety of age groups. We can tailor make activities to suit any age group, ability and interest. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss a visit.
